Tories select Wilson for East Belfast

The Conservatives have selected Neil Wilson to contest next year’s Northern Ireland Assembly elections in East Belfast.  Mr Wilson was the party’s Westminster candidate in the constituency, finishing third in the poll.

Northern Ireland’s economy is stalling because the Executive is “fostering uncertainty” by failing to implement welfare reform and agree a budget, according to Conservative economy spokesman, Johnny Andrews.

The crisis over welfare reform and the budget has “left Northern Ireland at a crossroads, economically and politically”, according to Conservative Party spokesman, Johnny Andrews.  Mr Andrews made his comments after Sinn Féin chairperson, Declan Kearney, claimed that the Executive cannot afford to cut Corporation Tax.
